A friend had her Fiesta parked in front of my Accord. Couldn't help but notice how similar in size the cars are. Isn't the fiesta a sub-compact? Yeah the accord is a bit longer....but not by much.

Model Bloat is the reason why I thought the Chevy Cruze was a Mid-Size Sedan at first

The Fiesta sedan is a satan spawn. Pay no attention to it.

Taller and narrower, yah, but the Fiesta sedan has a bubble butt.

I'm sure the newer one (read:2013+) is larger.

It's not much bigger than my brother's Jetta, which is baffling.

A new Focus hatch is wider and taller than a 10 year old Mazda 6 wagon.

Its very cramped, what is surprising is that its more cramped in the front seat than the back seat because of that damn center console

The Fiesta is 15 inches shorter, several inches narrower, and weighs nearly 1,000 pounds less. Doesn't seem bloated to me.

Than a current accord? Or the one in the picture?

Yeah the length is pretty close to what you describe (my trunk is enormous...probably why), but no on the other specs. Either way mine is a full-size family car and the fiesta...is not...

Jetta is a compact. Passat is the midsize.

Cars nowadays have to be steel safety bubbles.

Yeah that drives it, but the automakers need to stop being lazy and develop non-bulbous designs that meet the safety standards.

It can be done.

That's what average people want. They want it because diving is sooo scary or some dumb crap like that.

Your Accord. I was off on the weight. The Fiesta weighs 2400 lbs and the accord weighs just under 3000. But according to Wikipedia, my most trusted of sources, the Fiesta is in fact over a foot shorter and 3 inches narrower. The Fiesta is significantly smaller than the Accord, and, yes it's two size classes down, but it's a much newer car that's supposedly being choked by "model bloat". A Focus would still be smaller than that Accord even though people say that today's compacts are as big as yesterday's midsizers.

Accord:

Wheelbase: 106.9 inches

Length: 188.9 inches

Fiesta Sedan:

Wheelbase: 98 inches

Length: 173.6 inches

So, the Accord is still a good 15 inches longer, but that still seems way too close, given that there is supposed to be a whole other size of car fitting in between the two.
